CD players are comprised of two elements. Transports and DACS. The transport is the part that you open the drawer and slide the disc in, or on a top-loading CD transport, you lift the lid and place the disc on a spindle, then Clamp the disc down with a heavy clamp. A separate transport will provide more sound performance as it is isolated from the other workings of the CD Player.
