The R 2500 R combines the design and performance of our R series with the universal usability of a “one box system”. Its sources enable an almost limitless selection of playback options, which its built-in DSD and PCM converters convert from digital to analog signals in unique quality, which are then output to external speakers by the built-in amplifiers in typical T+A sound quality. The new R 2500 R is among the first T+A devices to have access to the third generation of our streaming architecture: It not only allows access to streaming services and USB sources; For the first time, a T+A device can be controlled directly from the mobile streaming apps Spotify and Tidal via Connect Services.
Measuring 16.5 × 46 × 40.5 cm, the R 2500 R follows our design philosophy of timeless reduction: a few but thoughtfully positioned buttons interrupt the elegant front, whose characteristic bevels create an almost seamless transition into the side panels, while the entire body of the R 2500 R shines in the light shine of hand-brushed aluminum.


The T+A True 1-bit converter used in the R 2500 R is also unique because it overcomes a long-standing principle: ordinary converters convert DSD signals into PCM signals in order to be able to process them afterwards. The exclusive use of this conversion contradicts our beliefs and laid the foundation for the development of the True 1-Bit Converter. It processes DSD files natively without harmful conversions and plays them back absolutely unadulterated in the real 1-bit stream. Comfortable playback and highest quality reproduction with the revolutionary T+A Path Separation Technology.
On the PCM side, the T+A quadruple converter works, whose double-symmetrical circuit with eight 32-bit BurrBrown converters compensates for sound non-linearities to an above-average extent: the noise, which is already barely present, is reduced by a further 6 dB. An astonishing linearity and dynamics with an equally astonishing lack of distortion are the impressive result of this effort.

Although we believe in pure music reproduction, it is important to us that customers can adapt T+A devices to their individual usage needs and listening tastes. That's why we developed 6 individual algorithms for our PCM quadruple converter that offer different oversampling characteristics. The polynomials used set different priorities for the conversion in the time domain or frequency response behavior for each individual filter. The True 1-Bit Converter has two different converter modes for DSD playback.


Our third generation Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) is the R 2500 R's audiophile connection to the connected world. The focus of their development was on maximizing sonic potential and diversity of sources. That's why your network boards process incoming WLAN, LAN and USB master mode signals, through which the R 2500 R can not only access streaming services such as Deezer, Qobuz and Tidal, but also local network files with up to 384/32 ( HD) as well as incoming streams from mobile devices via Connect or AirPlay services in audiophile quality. In addition to convenient Connect services, the R 2500 R also offers the option of playing uncompressed Flac files using aptX HD Bluetooth technology. For the first time in T+A's history, the ASA G3 is able to play DSD files natively from the network. For the best possible quality playback, this stream is passed on to the T+A True-1Bit converter, which processes DSD files in the native bitstream without any loss of quality.


Amplifier & High frequency sine wave power supply

Our drive is the best possible sound quality: only when every component of the device is optimized with this goal in mind will a piece of music develop its maximum effect. In the power amplifier, the power supply, along with the circuit topology, is the decisive factor for the sound quality. Only if it is stable and hard can even the largest musical impulses be processed cleanly without the supply voltage collapsing. To ensure that these requirements are met, we have developed our T+A high-frequency sine wave power supply. It combines the sonic advantages of transformer power supplies with the stability of switching power supplies: The high-frequency interference that is common with switching power supplies is avoided by the sine wave cycle and the last remaining interference is eliminated by the intelligent recharging of the built-in filter capacitors: Their recharging capacity is 100,000 reloads per second, 2000 times that of conventional power supplies.
That's why the T+A high frequency sine power supply can provide large amounts of current without inertia, even in the event of sudden, strong musical impulses, making it the perfect energy supplier for the preamplifiers and power amplifiers of the R 2500 R. These are constructed according to the double-mono principle . We separate the left and right channels completely (also mechanically) from each other and use two separate and identical amplifier boards with input section, volume control, high-voltage amplifier, so that both channels have exactly the same sound behavior. As in the HV series, the circuit topology of the input stage is based on a cascode differential amplifier with hand-selected audio J-FET transistors and completely discrete stages without operational amplifiers. Due to this circuit concept and the high quality of the components, practically no over-all feedback is necessary. The subsequent voltage amplifier stage and the subsequent current amplifier are completely galvanically isolated from each other. Thanks to this uncompromising concept, there is no feedback of the loudspeaker currents into the voltage amplifier stages and complete freedom from loudspeaker load effects. The amplifiers are equipped with a channel-separated tone control function that can be completely bridged using a gold contact relay and with a loudness adjustment that can be adjusted to the speaker efficiency.



All analog signal paths are susceptible to digital interference. In a receiver, a consistent and complex separation of both parts is therefore even more important for the sound quality. This is the only way to ensure that the analog music signal remains as pure and interference-free as it was recorded. why we digital analog .
