I don’t mount a cartridge without it, not because I have to, but because I’ve heard what happens when I don’t. It’s one of those tools that quietly changes your standards. Once you’ve seen the stylus and cantilever clearly, once you’ve understood how small misalignments translate into what you hear, it’s hard to go back to doing things that were previously “close enough.”

Video

WALLYLOUPE INSTRUCTIONS

The following instructions will be made much easier to understand if you can see it in action first. Watch the instructional video.

The WallyLoupe offers very low viewing angles and high magnification for the purpose of enhancing cantilever alignment accuracy on all cartridge types

• Maximum magnification is achieved by pulling the lens as far away from the subject and have it still be in focus
• The WallyLoupe is meant to lay with its base flat against the WallyTractor or WallyZenith. It is not meant to be hand-held for the purpose of cantilever alignment
• Do not slide the WallyLoupe into position. Lift it by the base or by the “ear” on the top right of the lens frame. This is to avoid inadvertent movement of the WallyTractor or WallyZenith when the stylus is resting upon it.
• Helpful hint: When aligning the cantilever, use the 10x loupe supplied with the WallyTractor to ensure the stylus remains on the radial line (photo)

The WallyLoupe includes two ground glass lenses for use in different situations:

80mm focal length lens (approx. 15x magnification) for use when aligning cantilevers which are difficult to align due to visual obstruction by the cartridge body

55mm focal length (approx. 25x magnification) for use when aligning cantilevers that are well exposed

To change lenses, unscrew the thumbscrew completely.
