The float, the beauty, the almost single-ended quality of female vocals was exquisite. And it wasn’t just the ladies that got me off. The palp factor was so high on “Moon Maiden,” from The Intimate Ellington (Pablo 2310-787), that when it was over, I felt like asking the Duke what he thought of the sound.
