It is said that the Urushi Vermillion was Sugano’s favourite cartridge. He changed the coils of the Vermillion, so the cartridge has only half of the output and a lower impedance than the other models in the Urushi range, which creates quite a sonic difference. The Vermillion has improved resolution and inner dynamics. It has been described as having a lighter sound, stunning with female voices in particular. The Vermilion is one of the most talked about Koetsu models, a perennial favourite due to its organic, tonally rich, seductive sound.
