Description

The 331/3 turntable mat will fit any turntable.

Simply stated, constrained layer damping (CLD) is a modern technology used to suppress vibrations. CLD involves a viscoelastic material that is sandwiched between two layers of a stiffer material, a total of 18 layers over the original 331/3 consisting of only 9 layers. Doubling the layering does not so much lead to an improved 331/3  but leads to a whole new audio experience. This approach to vibration control is used in a number of applications, most notably in the aerospace and aviation industry.

The Scientific Way…

In other words, CLD is based on solid scientific research. It is proven to be extremely effective in reducing vibrations in all types of precision applications.

After researching CLD, Les Davis naturally saw its potential in the high-end audio industry. He developed his own proprietary CLD material and tested it over an extended period of time. This resulted, of course, in Les Davis Audio 3D Constrained Layer Damping devices.

Universal…

3D products are deceptively simple. They can be placed under all types of audio components to reduce vibration. They can be placed under turntables, digital sources, amplification, power supplies, motors, underneath loudspeakers and power boards.

Effective

In each case, 3D makes a significant sonic difference in the overall sound. The noise floor is reduced. Music sounds fuller, with more visceral impact. The effect is not subtle--you will hear a difference when you use 3D in your audio system.

The 3D(2) has been in development since 2005/6. A number of experiments over 8 years proved that the performance of CLD is enhanced by a multi-layered approach. This layering is very strict in its design. Each fabric used and where it is placed in the layer determines just how well it performs.

Depending on the product the layers used can vary from 7 to 10.

Of critical importance to its performance are the fabrics used and its construction process.

These elements are propriety technology

A key element of audio vibration control is frequency. You do not want to impart your own frequency into a system. That would color it.

For your audio system to perform at an optimal level the vibration control must be neutral. As a result a key element in its design is to be neutral in its own color. This is achieved by ensuring that the vibration is removed evenly across the panel.

Since its release, studies in conjunction with staff of The University Of Sydney have enabled a development of a new higher performing version that takes advantage of its properties in being sensitive to electrical noise.

It is a unique Australian product. It performs at an extremely high standard despite its low cost

The product is made in a factory based in Sydney, Australia.
