Description

Stellar Strata

The new Stellar™ Strata MK2™ combines the benefits of an exceptional analog preamplifier, a full-featured state-of-the-art DAC, a stereo 150-watt per channel power amplifier, and an amazing sounding MC/MM phono stage in one gorgeous package. Strata MK2's fully balanced analog preamplifier circuitry, state-of-the-art DAC, no compromise high-definition phono stage, and MOSFET based power amplifier create an extraordinarily rich, full-bodied musical experience few products can match. The Stellar Strata MK2 is the perfect foundation for those unwilling to compromise sound quality. Rich. Lush. Powerful. A music lover's answer to spiraling cost-no-object equipment without sacrifice.

Design

The idea of combining a cutting-edge DAC, full-featured analog preamplifier, high-definition MC/MM phono preamplifier, and a robust 150-watt per channel power amplifier was the basis of the Stellar Strata™ design imperative. We wanted an easy, simple, no-compromise musical experience, whether playing from a connected transport or tracking amazing vinyl. "Just add speakers" became engineering's rallying cry. Strata MK2 holds true to its promise of audiophile plug-and-play. Connect your speakers or headphones, press play, or lower the needle onto your vinyl, and music filled with the rich textures and toe-tapping energy you've always hoped for will delight even the most critical music lover.

Application

Audiophiles have long recognized the challenge of interconnecting multiple systems into a single synergistic musical experience. Interconnect choices, power supply options, and chassis isolation requirements all play into the building of a truly musical system—get any one part wrong and the system performance is compromised. Not so with Stellar Strata MK2. The chance for PS Engineering to optimize the audio synergy between Strata's four separate systems was immediately appealing: eliminate the variability of interconnection issues, voice the entire system as one component, optimize power supplies, control every aspect of sound quality up to the speakers.

Technology

Overview

At this instrument's heart is a new analog attenuator that elegantly solves the fundamental problem facing preamp designers. Volume control. Nearly all analog preamplifiers use sonically degrading elements inserted in the signal path to control volume. The MKII eliminates this problem by using an all new no-loss analog attenuator in response to front panel controls. Once the connected source has passed through the Class A analog preamplifier, it's time to connect to your speakers. Here, engineer Darren Myers used the Analog Cell where he could lavish upon the music the sweet, tube-like quality of Class A biased MOSFETs. Combined with the ruler flat high linearity of Strata MK2's high current output stage, richly overlayed layers of music’s inner details are preserved even in the most complex orchestral crescendos.

The Inside Scoop

Once the high definition phono stage or connected source has passed through the Class A analog preamplifier, it's time to connect to your speakers. Here, engineer Darren Myers used a new version of our Analog Cell where he could lavish upon the music the sweet, tube-like quality of Class A biased MOSFETs. Combined with the ruler flat high linearity of Strata MK2's high current output stage, richly overlaid layers of music’s inner details are preserved even in the most complex orchestral crescendos. There's nothing like Strata MK2 when it comes to musicality. It's an all-in-one high-resolution audio solution just waiting for you to connect your speakers. Bring it on!

Construction

When you first pick up Stellar Strata MK2 Amplifier, you'll notice its solid build and heft. Every inch of Stellar suggests quality: from its rear panel connectors, Darren Myers designed MC/MM phono stage, to its internal high-end power amplifiers. Quality input and output connections, as well as beautifully constructed internals, will offer immediate assurance of quality from the very first moment you pull Strata MK2 out of its box.

What I heard was incredibly balanced and neutral, Elliot Scheiner’s mix shined in all of its glory. In fact, it occurred to me that this presentation would suffice for constructing a mix in the studio: its presentation was honest and full of detail and space.

Why Choose PS Audio

PS Audio is one of America’s most respected high-end audio manufacturers, building a loyal worldwide following through a combination of innovative engineering, strong customer support, and products designed around real musical enjoyment rather than technical spectacle alone. Founded by Paul McGowan in Colorado in 1974, the company has spent decades developing amplifiers, DACs, streamers, and power regeneration products that focus heavily on preserving musical realism, lowering system noise, and improving long-term listening satisfaction.

At HeyNow Hi-Fi, PS Audio has become one of the most consistently successful and widely loved brands amongst clients because the products combine genuine high-end performance with an inviting and highly engaging sound character. There is a naturalness and ease to the presentation that encourages longer listening sessions, while still delivering the scale, dynamics, and resolution expected from serious high-end systems.

Another aspect that makes PS Audio particularly appealing is the company’s consistency in industrial design and long-term product philosophy. Rather than constantly redesigning aesthetics, button layouts, and visual styling with every new release, PS Audio products maintain a cohesive and timeless appearance across generations. This allows customers to progressively build and expand their systems over time without older components feeling visually obsolete each time a new model is introduced.

Signature Design and Sound

PS Audio products are designed and engineered in the USA with a strong focus on low-noise design, analogue-like musicality, and practical long-term usability. Over the years, the company has developed a number of highly regarded proprietary technologies across digital playback, amplification, and power management.

One of the most significant areas of PS Audio’s engineering philosophy is power regeneration. Rather than simply filtering incoming AC power, PS Audio regenerators actively rebuild a new low-distortion AC waveform designed to provide connected equipment with cleaner, more stable power. In highly resolving systems, this can contribute to lower noise floors, improved dynamics, greater image stability, and a more natural and relaxed presentation.

PS Audio’s digital products have also earned strong recognition for their smooth, spacious, and highly musical sound. Rather than sounding overly sharp or clinical, the presentation feels dimensional and organic, with impressive tonal density and excellent long-term listenability. Music flows with a sense of ease and realism that appeals strongly to listeners who value emotional engagement as much as technical performance.

The company’s amplification platforms have evolved significantly over the years, particularly through the success of the BHK Signature series and the newer PMG range. These designs combine exceptional control and dynamic capability with a natural tonal presentation that avoids sounding sterile or overly aggressive, even within highly resolving systems.

PS Audio Product Range

The PS Audio range available through HeyNow Hi-Fi includes DAC streamers, integrated amplifiers, mono power amplifiers, power regenerators, network audio products, and digital playback solutions designed to operate cohesively within high-performance music systems.

Products including the DirectStream DAC platforms, Stellar series, BHK Signature amplifiers, PMG range, and Power Plant regenerators have developed particularly strong followings amongst listeners seeking systems that combine refinement, musicality, and long-term ownership satisfaction. The company’s products are also supported through ongoing firmware development and strong after-sales support, helping protect long-term product value and usability.

At HeyNow Hi-Fi, Geoff and his experienced system setup team provide assistance with system matching, streamer integration, power optimisation, and complete system configuration to ensure PS Audio products perform at their full potential within each customer’s listening environment.
