M3X

This is a current-boosted version of the M-3 Monoblock Power Amplifier

Premium Silver/Premium Black.

It doubles the current supply capacity without compromising the spatial expression and penetration power that are characteristic of single-push amplifiers, successfully achieving both delicate expression and overwhelming driving power.

Newly Developed Transistor Pairing Method:

We've developed a new, precise pairing method that even aligns the hfe (current gain) fluctuation rate, which changes over time due to changes in transistor current during music playback. We input hfe measurement data for numerous transistors at various current values, calculate the Euclidean distance for all combinations, and select transistor pairs that fall within a reference value (a level that can be considered identical when measurement error is taken into account). This method achieves a "smooth parallel push-pull" that rivals single push-pull. The output stage employs a pair of industrial TO3 (metal can type) transistors, the same as used in the M-3. To easily drive the two TO3 transistors, a TO3P transistor is also used in the driver stage, resulting in a total of four-stage Darlington configuration.

Copper Plate Heatsink Doubles as Busbar

The main heatsink is a lightweight, compact copper plate heatsink, something unheard of in conventional high-output amplifiers. This heatsink also serves as the power busbar for the can-type transistors, whose terminals penetrate the busbar and are mounted directly to the PCB directly below. This eliminates the wiring that is a drawback of can-type transistors, eliminating instability caused by inductance components while also eliminating the degradation in sound quality that can be caused by damping the device with an insulating sheet. Furthermore, the heatsink's physical isolation from the chassis provides a sense of freedom and clarity, providing a tremendous effect on sound quality. This truly kills three birds with one stone. Furthermore, the elimination of the insulating sheet in the M-3X improves the thermal coupling of the transistors, eliminating the time axis bleeding caused by temperature differences.

The voltage amplification stage employs a non-feedback differential circuit (new Type-R circuit) redesigned specifically for power amplifiers. The gainless differential circuit, emitter follower, and full-swing voltage amplification are achieved by a single transistor. This transistor's load resistor is connected only to GND, creating a "single-stage, single-ended, non-feedback circuit to GND." This new Type-R circuit, consisting of only four bipolar transistors and ten resistors, is essentially the same as a vacuum tube single-ended amplifier, but delivers wideband, full-swing output in a more streamlined manner. It's an ideal non-feedback circuit, worthy of being called a reference.

Ultra-simple configuration

The M-3 was born from the discovery that a power amplifier handling large currents should be dedicated to a single function. It has only one set of input and speaker terminals. It is a single-function monoblock power amplifier, lacking not only a selector or attenuator, but also any other switching functions. The signal input from the XLR terminal is connected directly to the base of the first-stage transistor, amplified in a single stage, and output via a single push-pull. The only operation required is the power switch. Of course, there are no unnecessary circuits or components, such as a microcontroller

.

Ultra-low copper loss 1600VA non-impregnated toroidal power transformer

We have developed the largest power transformer allowed under the condition that it can be carried by one person. The huge power transformer is mounted vertically on the front panel so that the direction of leakage flux is parallel to the board, and is suspended by a titanium washer to prevent harmful vibrations from being transmitted to the chassis, and is grounded with a single spike directly below it.

The high-speed non-feedback power supply

rectifier capacitor uses a specially selected, high-voltage, small-capacity, low-magnification foil filter capacitor with a capacity of just 470uF. By optimizing the capacitance through the number of capacitors used and reducing the load on the power transformer, the effective regulation of the ultra-powerful power transformer is further improved. The rectifier diode also uses a new, latest-spec SiC diode with an increased allowable inrush current value. This is the most powerful and high-speed power supply configuration imaginable.

The amplifier container is completely separate from the main housing and supports itself with three spikes.

The M-3X has a total of six spikes: three on the main housing and three on the amplifier container. Even though the two housings are completely physically separated, the power supply line from the power transformer is kept as short as possible, eliminating the effects of transformer vibration and leakage. The overwhelming effect on sound quality achieved by this ideal construction can be experienced by removing and attaching the shipping screws. Of course, the top panel, AC adapter, speaker terminals, input terminals, and bottom panel are all left unattached for the sake of sound quality.
