Description

The GRAVITON® Ti Armwand

A single piece, moulded, tapered carbon fibre tube with a unique quadruple helix design, reinforced by a graphene epoxy matrix. This innovative geometry builds on the legacy of previous WB tonearms, enhanced with uni-directional carbon fibre and a Rohacell sandwich section.

Developed in collaboration with France's FEMTO Institute and Sheffield Hallam University, the GRAVITON® Ti demonstrates exceptional strength and rigidity. Under a maximum stress of 1,232 psi, the armtube deflects merely 0.003 mm, ensuring optimal resonant frequency.

The tonearm is the second interface in the chain following the cartridge, its construction has a significant and direct impact on the sound reproduced by the analogue system. The tonearm serves as a critical interface in sound reproduction, akin to how a Stradivarius violin’s materials shape its sound. Unlike a violin, a tonearm should not add extra information; it must accurately transcribe the groove of a record.

Historically, when Wilson Benesch developed the A.C.T. One Tonearm in 1989, the use of metal within tonearm design was the norm. Wilson Benesch’s research highlighted the benefits of advanced composites, leading to extensive trials that informed the design. Recent studies using state-of-the-art FEA tools, data has reaffirmed that the balance of stiffness and damping chosen by Wilson Benesch in the late 1980s was near optimal.

Like the TESSELLATE Ti Cartridge, the GRAVITON® Ti Armwand design employs Selective Laser Sintered (SLS) manufacturing. Inspired by nature’s sacred geometry, the counterbalance structure mimics the human pelvis, designed for load-bearing and stability. With these advancements, all the metal components of the GRAVITON® Ti Armwand are produced with precise tolerances and unparalleled function. The structures incorporate hollow sections, tessellated sections, and sections where titanium powder has been intentionally left un-sintered. These complex structures could not have been achieved through any other means of production. The structures are now registered designs.

Why Choose Wilson Benesch

Wilson Benesch is a British high-end loudspeaker manufacturer renowned for combining advanced materials science, precision engineering, and cutting-edge acoustic research into some of the most technologically sophisticated loudspeakers available today. Founded in Sheffield, England in 1989, the company has consistently pursued a philosophy of reducing coloration, improving structural integrity, and preserving musical realism through highly integrated mechanical and acoustic design.

What makes Wilson Benesch particularly distinctive is the company’s deep involvement in composite material engineering and driver development. Rather than relying heavily on outsourced components, Wilson Benesch designs and manufactures many of its own critical technologies in-house, allowing complete control over cabinet behaviour, driver integration, resonance management, and overall system coherence.

At HeyNow Hi-Fi, Wilson Benesch speakers consistently stand apart for their remarkable speed, transparency, and spatial realism. There is an immediacy and physicality to the presentation that allows recordings to feel exceptionally alive, dynamic, and three-dimensional while still maintaining tonal sophistication and long-term listenability.

Signature Design and Sound

Manufactured in the United Kingdom, Wilson Benesch loudspeakers are engineered around advanced carbon fibre composite structures, highly rigid cabinet systems, and proprietary driver technologies developed to minimise stored energy and preserve transient accuracy throughout the playback chain.

One of the defining technologies within the range is the company’s use of isobaric driver loading, particularly within models such as the Discovery 3Zero and Resolution 3Zero. By coupling bass drivers within carefully controlled cabinet environments, Wilson Benesch is able to achieve remarkably deep, controlled, and articulate low-frequency performance from comparatively compact enclosures while maintaining excellent speed and transient precision.

The company also places enormous emphasis on cabinet aerodynamics and structural behaviour. The curved cabinet geometries, composite monocoque construction techniques, and carefully managed internal airflow all contribute to reducing resonance, diffraction, and unwanted energy storage throughout the loudspeaker structure itself.

Sonically, Wilson Benesch speakers are known for their speed, transparency, and highly holographic presentation. Instruments and vocals emerge with remarkable image focus and spatial precision, while bass remains exceptionally articulate and controlled. The soundstage feels expansive and highly layered, allowing recordings to unfold with impressive dimensional realism and low-level detail retrieval.

Despite their extraordinary resolving capability, Wilson Benesch speakers avoid sounding mechanical or sterile. Instead, they combine technical precision with remarkable musical flow and dynamic freedom, helping recordings feel highly natural and emotionally engaging.

Wilson Benesch Product Range

The Wilson Benesch range available through HeyNow Hi-Fi focuses on high-performance loudspeakers incorporating the company’s advanced composite engineering, proprietary driver technologies, and highly integrated acoustic design philosophy.

Models including the Discovery 3Zero and Resolution 3Zero showcase the company’s ability to combine compact cabinet proportions with exceptional dynamic scale, low-frequency authority, and highly refined spatial performance. Across the range, the emphasis remains firmly on reducing resonance, preserving transient speed, and reproducing music with extraordinary realism and coherence.

At HeyNow Hi-Fi, Geoff and his experienced system setup team provide assistance with amplifier matching, speaker positioning, room integration, and complete system optimisation to ensure Wilson Benesch speakers perform at their full capability within each customer’s listening environment.
